BREAST LIFT / MASTOPAXY
After pregnancy, breast feeding, or massive weight loss, the volume of the breast may lost and sag, and as a result becomes unsightly.
Sometimes, mild sagging can be corrected with breast augmentation, or breast implant. However, often a breast lift is required especially when patient do not wish to have their breast enlarged by having breast implants.
Breast lift surgery is effective in lifting and reshaping saggy breasts for saggy breasted patients.
If you plan to have children in the future you must postpone breast surgery until one year after pregnancy and after breast feeding has ceased. Pregnancy may stretch the breasts and reduce their volume. Both of these factors may counter the benefits of breast lift surgery. Breast skin ages over time which may impact on breast sagging and the appearance of a breast lift thus requiring a second procedure.
The procedure does not permanently change the breast shape and firmness.

How is it done?
The breast lift surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia in hospital.
Surgical technique for breast lift involves one of the following two incisions which may result a lollipop scar or an anchor scar.
How long does the surgery take?
The surgery may take a couple of hours depending on its complexity.
What should I expect during recovery?
Because skin is removed and tissue is moved around, the breasts will be bruised, sore and swollen afterwards. You are expected to wear a surgical bra for several days. The pain and discomfort after surgery can be treated with painkillers.
After the bandages and surgical bra have been removed, you will be required to wear an athletic or support bra until the swelling subsides.
Heavy lifting or straining should be avoided after the surgery. You can usually return to work within a week, and to resume full activity within a month.
Sensation in your nipples may be reduced temporarily but it will return to normal in a few months. Breast feeding is normally unhindered because the connecting glandular tissue of the nipple and areola are left intact during breast lift surgery.
